>>In the waters of Etang d’Amaury in Hergnies...
Some rain had been forecast but it never came to Hergnies !!!
We had a great day out near the lake called Etang d’Amaury in Hergnies, around 20 km away from Valenciennes... ![]() In the morning we got separated in two groups.
Everyone was wearing raincoats and boots... Even Yorkie felt more secure in the teacher’s bag ! Can you spot him ?
One group went to play a game (jeu de l’oie).
We definitely wanted to catch something...
The other group went fishing with landing nets in a lake called Etang d’Amaury in Hergnies. We were not meant to catch fish !
We just had to be patient...and lucky !
The teacher kept telling us to watch our boots...but...Elisabeth got wet feet !!!
Even Yorkie had a great time ! He could remember his daytrip to the beach in Canada.... Were there any sand dollars in Hergnies ?
The group that was fishing found strange animals and even insects. ![]() The first group caught five snails (three big ones and two small ones), ![]() one banded demoiselle and a larva of dragonfly, ![]() a shrimp and a gammare. When we finished fishing we went in a hall then in a room to observe the animals and insects that the group had found.
The guide used a clever device for us to see the very tiny animals : an overhead projector...
The larva of a demoiselle (a small type of dragonfly)
We learned that bamded demoiselle had like three little tails at the end of their body to help them breathe like fish do. We also learned that a shrimp had between twelve and sixteen legs.
And now...who eats who ?
![]() Then we changed group. Thibault, Shunta, Paul. |
