Samedi 24 novembre nous sommes all�s voir un match de Hockey � la patinoire de Valenciennes. Les Diables Rouges de Valenciennes ont jou� contre Charleroi pour un match amical. Nous �tions nombreux pour supporter l'�quipe de Valenciennes.
Chaque Fois que Valenciennes marquait on se levait et on criait car on �tait content.
D�s le d�but du match les Diables rouges ont marqu�. Le gardien de Charleroi n'arrivait pas � arr�ter les buts.
Pendant la pause, un des joueurs nous a montr� le mat�riel pour jouer au Hockey. (...)

What a day in VAL JOLY !

On Saturday June 5th we went to VAL JOLY with the class of Mme Lardenois. We had a list of all the sports we were going to do. We had :
moutain bike,
golf,
tree climbing,
orienteering course,
trampoline,
balance, Mei, Jeanne, Paul, Alino� and Thibault

On a very hot Friday afternoon we went to see "the Farm in Town" exhibition on the "Place d'Armes" in Valenciennes. We were told about the animals we could see : cows, horses, pigs, rabbits, sheep, chicken, poneys, goats...
Most of them had babies : calves, foals, piglets, lambs, kids... We saw different species of cows :the black and wite Primetlolstein good for milking,the "limousine" and the "blanc-bleue" good for meat. We were also given explanations on the machines the farmers (...)

On June 18th we went to the "Place Charles de Gaulle" in Valenciennes for a ceremony. It was a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of General de Gaulle's appeal from the BBC studios in London. A veteran read the Appeal in French that we had studied at school. Children from �cole Henri Lemaitre sang the French National Anthem "La Marseillaise" and they put flowers in front of the monument. Then we marched to the townhall. We were following the standard bearers...

Le RAID USEP

Le samedi 5 juin, la classe de Mme Lardenois, accompagn�e de quelques �l�ves de Clin cycle 3, est all�e au Val-Joly pour participer au RAID organis� par l'USEP. L� bas, parmi 650 �l�ves venus de tout le d�partement du Nord, la classe a �t� r�partie en 3 groupes. Chaque groupe a particip� � plusieurs activit�s. Sous un soleil radieux les �l�ves ont encha�n� :

Designing submarines Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) made sketches of a submarine and William Bourne , a British mathematician, drew plans for a submarine in 1578.
But it was only in 1620 that Cornelius van Drebbel , a Dutch inventor, managed to build a submarine. He wrapped a wooden rowboat tightly in waterproofed leather and had air tubes with floats to the surface to provide oxygen. Le 1er juin 2010, la classe de Mme Lardenois s'est rendue � l'�cole Plaine de Mons � l'occasion d'une rencontre U.S.E.P appel�e...
"La t�te dans les baskets ". Nous avons fait 3 �preuves intellectuelles :
du calcul mental,
des exercices sur le patrimoine de Valenciennes
des sciences. Nous avions aussi des �preuves sportives :
une s�rie d'�preuves se d�roulait � la piscine (water-polo, sauvetage et relais)
un challenge d'athl�tisme nous opposait au stade (course, lancer, sauts...)
une �preuve de kin-ball

Last March, we went to Dartford townhall and in May we went to Valenciennes townhall. They were not the same at all ! So we will compare them.
Dartford and Valenciennes both have a coat of arms.
On Valenciennes' you can see two swans, "cygne" in French. And Valenciennes would have been called earlier "Val en Cygnes" referring to the swans that lived on the rivers and marshes in that area.
On Dartford's there are : the chevron that represents the bridge over river Darent, from which the (...)

Last March we visited the Guildhall Museum when we spent a week in England.
The Rochester Guildhall Museum was built in 1687 and is one of the finest 17 th century civic buildings in Kent. Originally it consisted of a court hall (where people get judged), a council chamber(a place where the the local councillors have their meetings), a City Gaol (a small prison next to the court of justice) and the gaoler's accommodation.
